CHE 3-1SOU: 2 Observations As Chelsea Defeat Southampton At Stamford Bridge

>

Chelsea regained their winning form in today's clash against Southampton at Stamford Bridge after two consecutive losses in the EPL and UCL as they defeated the Saints to a 3-1 win.

A fantastic header from Trevoh Chalobah in the 9th minute of the game gave the Blues a 1-0 lead.

Unluckily Chelsea couldn't finish the first half of the game with a 2-0 lead as a VAR decision disallowed Timo Werner's goal scored in the 43rd minute of the game.

Timo Werner has had 16 disallowed goals since joining Chelsea, which has dubbed him an unlucky player.

Thomas Tuchel got booked by the referee for complaining about the wrong VAR decision, which made it look like Chelsea has gotten targeted.

The Blues having more advantage over Southampton didn't sustain them their 1-0 lead as a foul by Ben Chilwell in the penalty area prompted the Saints equalizer as James Ward-Prowse scored a penalty in the 61st minute of the game to change the scoreline to a 1-1 draw.

Timo Werner bounced back in style in the 84th minute to give the Blues a 2-1 lead and Ben Chilwell in the 89th minute to bring full time to a 3-1 victory.

Chelsea gained 3 points to overtake Liverpool in the 1st position of the EPL table with 16 points.

Two things that I observed in today's match between Chelsea and Southampton

1. Wrong VAR Decision

Timo Werner's disallowed goal in the 43rd minute of the game was probably a wrong VAR decision, which makes one question the essence of a VAR.

2. Romelu Lukaku Lack of Impressive Gameplay

Romelu Lukaku missed a couple of goal chances, failing to convert most to goals.
